Manage your subconscious with these words!

by Zeynep Ölçer 25 Oct 2024

Our mind can distinguish between positive and negative statements; however, our subconscious mind does not make this distinction, it directly records what it hears. Therefore, the statements we use to motivate ourselves or to change a situation have a greater impact than we think. For example, when we say “I don’t want to make mistakes,” our subconscious mind focuses on the key word in this sentence, “mistake.” Since the subconscious mind does not distinguish between negative and positive, we unknowingly increase our chances of making mistakes while trying to avoid making mistakes.

To understand this better, let’s consider this example: A student is afraid of failing in exams and constantly thinks, “I don’t want to fail.” The word “failure” in this sentence becomes stronger as it is repeated in the subconscious mind, creating stress at the time of the exam. The stressed student increases the risk of making mistakes and faces a self-fulfilling prophecy. In fact, even though his intention is to achieve success, he undermines this intention with a negative expression.

Similarly, when someone who is experiencing financial difficulties says, “I don’t want to be poor,” their subconscious mind focuses on the concept of poverty. The subconscious mind records this thought continuously, and the mind becomes more focused on the feeling of poverty. This person may unknowingly make decisions that will strain them financially or overlook opportunities that will improve their financial situation. While the real goal is to achieve financial abundance, wrong thinking can prevent this goal from being realized.

Instead of such expressions, using positive and goal-oriented sentences is the most effective way to support the subconscious. For example, choosing expressions such as “I am progressing successfully” instead of “I do not want to make mistakes”, “I am in abundance and prosperity” instead of “I do not want to be poor” codes the desired situation into the subconscious. Such positive expressions help strengthen the targeted situation in the subconscious and allow us to unconsciously move in that direction.

In conclusion, using our language consciously is a powerful factor in directing our minds towards the goals we want. By focusing on positive statements, we can support our subconscious mind and attract the results we desire into our lives more easily.
