Who is this Universe?
Expressions such as “Ask the Universe” or “Universe, respond to my message” that we have heard frequently lately make us perceive the universe as an independent entity. However, despite being an unlimited source of energy, the universe is a work of the Almighty Creator that has come into being with its flawless order. The entire functioning of the universe is a part of this divine order and wisdom. Now, let’s start to understand together what this unlimited universe actually is, what kind of order it has, and its deep relationship with humans.
The universe is the totality of all material and energetic structures that exist in infinite order and chaos. Stars, planets, galaxies, voids and energy forms are all parts of the universe. The origin of the universe is explained by modern science with the Big Bang Theory . According to this theory, the universe began to expand with a big explosion approximately 13.8 billion years ago and galaxies, stars and planets were formed during this process. At the same time, the universe is governed by energetic and physical laws. Branches of science such as quantum physics say that the universe operates within an orderly structure from the smallest particles to the largest galaxies and that this structure is in a constant exchange of energy.
In Islamic belief, the creation of the universe occurred with the will and power of Allah. In the Quran, it is stated that everything came into being when Allah said, “Be!” In other words, every particle of the universe was shaped, arranged and created by the infinite will of Allah. Allah created the universe in a balance and stated that everything moves within a measure and order. This indicates that the order and laws in the universe emerged with the wisdom and knowledge of Allah.
The connection between man and the universe can be considered from both a scientific and a spiritual perspective. Scientifically, man is a part of the universe. His body is made up of atoms and elements in the universe. The human body is a composite of the elements left over from the death of stars. In this respect, man is a microcosm of the universe; that is, a small world that functions in parallel with the larger structures in the universe. Man's cells, atoms and energy are subject to the laws of the universe.
The saying "If we enlarge a human being, the universe becomes, if we shrink the universe, it becomes a human being" impressively expresses the deep connection between man and the universe. This saying tells us that man is not just a small being in the universe, but rather that all the laws, energy and structure of the universe are also manifested within man.
Spiritually, man is a being who can understand the meaning of the universe and recognize the creator. Man was created as a being who carries a responsibility on earth, and this responsibility requires understanding the universe, maintaining the balance in the universe, and comprehending the functioning of the universe. The conscious existence of man is a mirror reflecting the existence of a divine power in the universe. While man seeks the purpose of the universe and life, he establishes a deep connection with the creator. In this context, man's existence in the universe is an opportunity to understand divine wisdom and discover the order in the universe.
The universe is the area of physical and spiritual development of man. Man lives as a whole with the universe; he complies with its laws, he is in a cycle with the rhythms of nature. The human soul is on a journey to reach universal consciousness, that is, the infinite power of God. During this journey, man establishes a deep connection with the universe in both material and spiritual dimensions.
